About the Song
“Dying Star” is the last track on the WEEDKILLER album and also serves as the conclusion to the “Weedkiller” short story developed throughout the album. The lyrics detail the main character, Aster, fleeing from a burning, dying planet and finding refuge in this new planet. Ashnikko compares Aster to a dying star to convey the harsh escape from planet to planet. It can be implied that this new planet is a metaphor for a new lover & the old planet is an old lover, who may have been toxic or abusive; although, some interpret this old planet as a disapproving family member or society itself, disapproving of Ashnikko as a queer woman.
